Imidazoline

Imidazoline - thermally stable nitrogen-containing organic compounds. Being lipophilic, they are soluble in nonpolar solvents and dispersed in water systems. The ability of imidazoline to form cations leads to their adsorption on the negatively charged surface of metals, fibers, plastics, glass and minerals, thus making these hydrophilic surface hydrophobic.

Imidazoline arecorrosion inhibitors of mixed type, because it reduces the rate of anodic dissolution of iron and cathodic reduction of hydrogen.

Imidazoline as surface-active substances, are often cationic properties, are good emulsifiers and able to form water-soluble acid salts.

Film formation and corrosion properties contribute to their use in industry as corrosion inhibitors. This is predetermined by the fact that imidazoline adsorbed at the metal / solution interface and is formed monomolecular hydrophobic layer that repels water. Also used as components of detergents, the basis of non-polar solvents for water-repellency of wood, concrete, metal, fabric softeners and antistatic fabrics, ensuring stability of their color. As emulsifiers are used as imidazoline and their chloride and acetate salts.

Metal-working and oil and gas industry. Imidazoline may be used as components of highly effective corrosion inhibitors.

Building. Imidazoline widely used as an additive to road asphalt to improve their adhesion to acid rocks. With the addition of bitumen imidazoline in amount 0,1-0,5% improved wettability of rock bitumen, thus increasing the service life of pavement.

Paint Industry. Imidazoline additive in paints improves the adhesion of paints to even wet surfaces. Besides improving the properties of a paint repel moisture.

Textile industry. Imidazoline used in the textile industry as antistatic agents and fabric softeners.

Other industries.Imidazoline also widely used as emulsifiers for various environments, the components of detergent, formulations for hydrophobization of concrete, wood, etc.
